WordPress optimization | wpwp

Three pillars of optimization

The site is a tool. It should be effective, modern, properly configured and flexible. Among many things to pay attention to when optimizing, we distinguish three issues:

Audit

Before we start working, we glance at the situation globally. We identify key needs, prioritize functions and develop a step-by-step work plan.

Speed

We don't compromise when it comes to website speed and technical optimization. Lots of key indicators are based on it.

Safety

The site must be updated, protected and configured so that neither time nor intruders can harm it.

Server load

If your site works or loads heavily, or has a slow time to first byte (more than one second), we have two approaches:

Detailed audit of your server infrastructure. We take into account the traffic that your site handles and can reconfigure the infrastructure and/or expand if the current capacity is not enough.

In our team this task is accomplished by DevOps. It specializes in working specifically with WordPress, with WordPress caching, with WordPress browser caching, etc. As a result, you`ll get a faster website and most likely reduced costs for your hosting or server.

Audit and codebase improvements. We conduct a detailed audit of your theme and all the plugins you use based on and identify problematic pages. If your site cannot stop, we create a test server where we reproduce the conditions you faced and improve the code base. It includes removing plugins that take up a lot or customizing them. All the same is done with the theme. After achieving good results on the test server, we transfer everything to production.

Each page of your site should load in less than 1 second. Ideally 200/400 milliseconds. We have examples of such site work.

PageSpeed: PageSpeed insights / Google Lighthouse

Google PageSpeed or Lighthouse now are critical parameters for both SEO ranking and user experience.

Reasons for low loading speed: usage of builders and bulky libraries, large images, low speed at the server level, suboptimal page semantics, and many other factors.

We have experience in overclocking the site literally from 0 to 90+ mobile and 100 desktop. The work process is that we conduct a detailed audit of your current indicators and, based on the recommendations of Google Lighthouse, show you which specific elements and structural / systemic problems affect the indicators. If necessary, we deploy a test server on which we carry out all the test measurements and after that we transfer everything to production.

In most cases, we guarantee getting into the yellow zone with the continued use of builders without a complete redesign of the site.

Implementation of SEO edits

We don`t provide SEO optimization services. We can help you implement technical changes according to the technical SEO audit conducted by a specialized SEO company.

We also good at:

  • updating templates to meet Google’s semantic requirements
  • introduction of micro-markup
  • introduction of breadcrumbs
  • embedding sitemaps (HTML or Sitemap XML)
  • edits related to pictures for more correct feedback for the robot
  • implementation of edits for relinking pages
  • assistance with setting up complex redirect systems when transferring
  • PageSpeed improvement
  • setting the correct page response codes (200,300,400) etc.
  • implementation of SEO edits for WooCommerce shops.

Technical UX improvements

We don`t provide UX and CRO services. But we implement all the technical recommendations from designers or marketers to improve conversion and conduction of A/B tests.

Updates and security

Updating versions of PHP, WordPress, plugins. Updating versions of PHP, WordPress, plugins. WordPress and most plugins are open source products that regularly find issues, and those issues are through updates. We help you do it professionally. Firstly, we analyze from which version to which you need to upgrade and what risks it has. Secondly, we use a test server to make sure everything works as it should. Thirdly, we can offer to do this on a regular basis, and in this case the risks of hacking and placing malicious software on it are significantly reduced.

Therefore, it is cheaper to regularly update your site and spend a little time on it than to ask for help in upgrading from a super ancient version to the current one and update the entire site. Sooner or later it still has to be done.

Safety. We help configure security tools: Wordfence (protects against hacking the admin panel), anti-spam filters, setting up the server in terms of security, curing the site from viruses.
