I Love Veterinary is a WordPress-based blog with useful information for veterinarians, vet techs, and students. The site was filled with additional blocks of advertising and analytics. We audited the site with PageSpeed Insights and field data (CrUX), then executed a full Core Web Vitals optimization plan (LCP, INP, CLS) as part of our WordPress speed optimization services—reducing TTFB, trimming render-blocking assets, and modernizing images (WebP/AVIF). For our audit workflow, see also our Google PageSpeed optimization. Below: baseline issues, what we changed, and the measured results.

Preliminary Testing And Results

Our WordPress developers tested the site using Google PageSpeed Insights and CrUX. The mobile version showed critical performance gaps and weak Core Web Vitals—hurting UX and SEO. Addressing mobile rendering and input delay was a priority; this aligns with our approach to mobile optimization for WordPress websites.

Preliminary Testing And Results

These are the results of testing the mobile version of the site. As we can see, performance at critical levels and Core Web Vitals leave much to be desired. Because of this, the user experience and the SEO suffer greatly.

Preliminary Testing And Results

The desktop version of the site was also not in the best condition. As you can see in the screenshot, performance is low; Core Web Vitals also does not perform well. Let’s see how our developers solved these problems.

Why Website Was Slow

Various reasons were discovered why the site was slow. The main ones:

  • long Javascript execution time;
  • unused codebase;
  • large images.

These are the most common reasons for a slow website. Let’s look at how our specialists approached their elimination.

Codebase Audit and Improvements

In order for the browser and server to quickly process web pages, the site code must be clean. To do this, our WordPress website developers minified the syntax. This process includes removing extra characters, spaces, comments, etc. Thanks to this, the amount of code is reduced, and it is easier for the browser to index it, and therefore pages load faster. As a result, the user’s experience improves.

Images Improvements

Pictures play an important role in a website design. However, too large images and their outdated format slow down the site. Our developers convert images into webp format and install the Webp Express plugin. This tool automatically converts images that are uploaded to the site into webp format. In addition, our WordPress website developers have integrated lazy loading of images. They do not open simultaneously, but when the user scrolls to them.

Work With Cache

Setting up the cache is one of the important parts of optimization. If the cache is activated and configured correctly, web pages open quickly and the user experience improves. Our WordPress developers professionally configure the cache.

Additional Actions

We also disabled unused functionality using the Perfmatters plugin. Features that are not used slow down the website. After that he began to work much faster.
