PENCILS OF PROMISE is a charity company dedicated to creating safe, healthy learning environments for children in the world’s most resource-poor countries.

PENCILS OF PROMISE BOOK is not a typical website. We’ve developed a bilingual audiobook. Let’s look at how it works and how we did it.

• we implemented multilingualism – the book is available in English, Spanish and Lao;
• we made voiceovers in English and Spanish;
• interactive tips in the illustrations.

All functions are implemented using custom PHP and JS code and WordPress Custom Fields, which makes it easy to fill the site with content in each of the required languages. Creating such a page took 320 hours.

Wondering what it looks like to navigate to the next page of a book on different devices?

This is a place where children from all over the world can add their own drawings. The gallery is made as a separate page with filtering:

After uploading the picture, the user enters an email and confirms sending it. The painting is sent to the administrator panel in the «draft» status. Next, the manager checks the picture for compliance with the site content. If the painting is suitable, it is published on the site. If it does not match the site content, the manager leaves a comment that will be sent to the user’s email.
