Professional WooCommerce Development For Pastry Shop

Honey is the most popular pastry shop in Kyiv. In 2022, they approached us with the task of developing an online store to sell baked goods before Easter. Only a week was allotted for the implementation of the project. Thanks to fruitful cooperation with the client, our WordPress development company managed to launch the site in working mode within the specified time frame.

The customer was completely satisfied with the result but wanted to expand the online store functionality, which we were unable to implement in the allotted time. Later, the company contacted us again for additional development. We want to tell you what we did, our approach to development, and the results we achieved.

In the winter of 2023, Honey approached us to expand their WooCommerce online store capabilities. At the time of access, the site consisted of the following pages:

• Home page; 
• Product page; 
• Cart; 
• Order page.

The site was developed on a turnkey basis, the design was unique. However, the customer decided to expand the site with custom features. Let’s look at what we implemented and how.

Since the client wanted a unique website, pre-built WooCommerce solutions were not an option. That’s why we created a turnkey store based on the WooCommerce capabilities. The client wanted to make the following pages unique:

• Cart page;
• Product single;
• Product archive;
• Order page.

Using Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), we have implemented the ability to create different variations of slides on a banner. Creations are available to the client in the following options:

• Text + video;
• Picture + text;
• Products + picture;
• Slider with products + picture;
• Product + text.

Thanks to this, the client can change the banners appearance, and therefore the pages design.

We have created several turnkey templates. The customer can edit and add new sections to the pages.

The customer wanted several custom delivery methods. We implemented each method as a separate plugin. As a result, when ordering in an online store, the client can specify the delivery address and delivery distance. A text field is used to indicate the address, and the following drop-down list is used to indicate the range:

• In the center (50 UAH)
• 5 km from the center (+100 UAH)
• 10 km from the center (+150 UAH)
• 14 km from the center (+250 UAH)
• 17 km from the center (according to Uklon taxi fares).

When choosing a distance, the cost is automatically added to the delivery amount. In addition, there is a text field for delivery details. In this field, the user can indicate the entrance and other delivery information. Also, if the user orders a gift, this can be indicated using a special field with a checkbox.

On the website you can choose not only delivery, products are available for pickup. When you select this method, a drop-down list appears with the addresses of the company’s branded outlets:

• Yaroslaviv Val street, 20
• Nizhniy Val street 19-21
• Pickup from TSUM (payment by terminal at the establishment).

Also, when choosing self-pickup, the customer can choose “cash payment upon delivery.” As with selecting shipping, a text field is available to enter details.

Nova Poshta is a Ukrainian company that organizes delivery throughout Ukraine and beyond. We implemented this delivery method using the WC Ukr Shipping PRO plugin. Our WordPress developers adapted the tool to the client’s needs.

On the product page, we have implemented product information and allergen markers. Thanks to this function, users see the composition and it is easier for them to decide on the choice of product. In addition, we implemented custom menus and navigation for product categories.

Even though the client regularly made design changes during development, we managed to complete the project on time. Three weeks were allotted to complete the task, and our WordPress development company invested in this time frame.
